Meet the Current Goalkeepers of the Nigerian Super Eagles
1. Maduka Okoye
Maduka, (born 28 August 1999) is a German-born Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Watford and the Nigeria national team. He was born to a Nigerian father and a German mother. He was made first-choice goal keeper by former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Gernot Rohr and is wearing the Number 1 shirt to the AFCON competition in Cameroon.
2. Francis Uzoho
Uzoho (born 28 October 1998), is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Omonia and the Nigeria national team. He got his first call-up for the Super Eagles in 2017. He was Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper during the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia. He is also in the AFCON as the preferred substitute to Maduka Okoye.
3. Daniel Akpeyi
Akpeyi (born 3 August 1986), is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs and the Nigeria national team. He was the major goalkeeper at the 2019 AFCON competitions, where he performed well assisting his team to the semifinals stage.
4. John Barinyima
Barinyyima (born 6 June 1993) is a Nigerian international footballer who plays for Enyimba FC, as a Goalkeeper. He was shortlisted in 2021 AFCON Nations Cup by Caretaker Coach Eguavoen as part of the 28-Man Nigeria Squad.
