MFM Vows to Combat Falsehoods, Uphold Reputation Amidst Legal Victory
The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM) has declared its stance against false narratives and publications aimed at tarnishing its image, asserting its readiness to challenge such misinformation rigorously.
Mr. Davidson Adejuwon, the Chief Legal Adviser Worldwide of MFM, emphasized this commitment in response to a recent judgment by a United States Court against Nigerian blogger Funke Asekun. The court imposed a $50,000 fine on Asekun for defaming MFM’s General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.
MFM took legal action against Asekun, alleging that she spread erroneous and defamatory statements about Dr. Olukoya and the ministry on social media platforms. The lawsuit, filed by three US-based pastors of MFM, accused Asekun of making defamatory remarks about Dr. Olukoya in a video posted on her YouTube channel in November 2023.
The U.S. Court, presided over by Theresa Adams, ruled unanimously in favor of MFM USA and its pastors, imposing the fine on the blogger.
Adejuwon stressed that this judgment serves as a warning to the public and the media to verify information before publishing any content against MFM. He underscored MFM’s significance as an Apostolic Revival Church of Christ entrusted with a divine mandate under Dr. Olukoya’s leadership.
He urged both the public and the media to conduct thorough checks before disseminating stories or spreading falsehoods against the church, emphasizing MFM’s determination not to tolerate such trends in society any longer.
The legal victory underscores MFM’s commitment to upholding its reputation and combating false narratives that could undermine its mission and credibility.
