Minister Urges Nigerians to Avoid Inflammatory Remarks, Embrace Unity

Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, issues a stern warning to Nigerians against making inflammatory comments directed at the government. In a statement released by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, Matawalle emphasized the need for responsible discourse, especially in light of the ongoing security challenges facing the nation.

Matawalle expressed concern over the rising tide of unguarded utterances from certain quarters of the populace, citing their potential to incite violence and exacerbate tensions. He urged citizens to refrain from such remarks, emphasizing the destructive nature of inflammatory language and its adverse impact on national unity.

The Minister reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians. He highlighted various government policies aimed at reshaping the economy and enhancing security, including efforts to strengthen the Nigerian Military and empower security agencies to combat crime effectively.

Matawalle underscored the President’s proactive approach to addressing the root causes of insecurity and poverty, citing increased investment in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the expansion of the social safety net to support vulnerable households.
