NAFDAC’s Battle Against Counterfeits

In response to the alarming proliferation of fake and counterfeit food and drugs in Anambra State, the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has embarked on a determined campaign to combat this pressing issue. Recognizing the grave threat posed by counterfeit products to public health and safety, NAFDAC is taking proactive measures to safeguard consumers and uphold regulatory standards.

Collaboration for Consumer Safety

Director of NAFDAC in the Southeast, Mr. Martins Iluyomade, has spearheaded efforts to foster collaboration between NAFDAC and local security agencies in Anambra State. Recognizing the pivotal role of Anambra in Nigeria’s drug distribution network, Mr. Iluyomade emphasizes the urgency of curbing counterfeit products in the state. By forging partnerships with law enforcement agencies, NAFDAC aims to strengthen enforcement measures and curb the illicit trade of counterfeit goods.

Strengthening Enforcement Measures

During a series of high-level meetings with key stakeholders in Anambra, including the Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of Zone 13, Mr. Iluyomade reiterated the importance of joint efforts in tackling the scourge of counterfeit products. The collaborative effort, supported by Mr. Louis Madubuatta, the Coordinator of NAFDAC, Anambra, and Mrs. Victoria Akudu, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, underscores NAFDAC’s unwavering commitment to protecting consumers, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs in Anambra and the entire Southeast region.

As part of this concerted effort, NAFDAC aims to enhance surveillance, enforcement, and public awareness campaigns to combat counterfeit products effectively.
