Nana Akua Addo Threatens Nigerian Designer with N50 Million Defamation Lawsuit

Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo has issued a stern warning to Nigerian designer Ezinne Olivia, demanding a public apology within 48 hours or face legal repercussions.

The buzz in the fashion world revolves around Nana Akua Addo and Olivia following their appearances at the recent AMVCA event. Nana Akua’s stunning ensemble garnered widespread acclaim, securing her a coveted spot among the best-dressed attendees of the evening.

However, tensions arose when Olivia took to social media to criticize Nana Akua Addo for allegedly failing to credit her for contributions to the outfit. Olivia claimed that despite her input, she was not acknowledged on social media.

In response, Nana Akua Addo clarified that the 3D garment, valued at $3,000, was conceptualized in Ghana and sourced from China. She emphasized that Olivia’s role in the outfit’s design was minimal, with the primary creative effort attributed to her Ghanaian designer, Yoli.

According to an official statement from Nana Akua Addo’s legal team, Olivia was given the option of social media acknowledgment or financial compensation. She chose the latter and received full payment of N400,000. Therefore, Nana Akua asserts that Olivia’s grievances regarding credit are baseless.

The statement further revealed that Olivia’s name was initially included in the social media post but was removed at her request to avoid sharing credit. In response to Olivia’s videos addressing the issue, Nana Akua Addo has instructed her attorneys to demand a public apology within 48 hours.

Failure to comply will result in legal action, with Nana Akua Addo insisting that Olivia retract all related social media content and issue an apology published in two national newspapers within the same timeframe. Failure to adhere to these demands will lead to a defamation lawsuit with a compensation claim of N50,000,000 for damages.
