Nancy Isime Reflects on Career Focus Over Marriage Dreams

Nigerian actress and media personality Nancy Isime recently opened up about how marriage was never part of her daydreams as a child. Speaking on the Creativitea Live with Lynda podcast, she shared that unlike many young girls who fantasize about getting married, she was more focused on building her career and becoming independent. Her ambitions were clear from a young age—she wanted to work hard, earn her own money, and become self-reliant.

Isime explained that even if marriage is in her future, the scale of the wedding itself would not be a major concern. Whether big or small, the event would be based on what she and her partner feel comfortable with. “You know when young girls used to sit down and daydream about getting married, I never did. I used to daydream about working, making my own money, and being independent,” she said.

Reflecting on her upbringing, Isime mentioned that growing up in a humble background shaped her desire for financial independence. Asking for money was often discouraged in her family, which made her determined to work hard and take control of her own future. “I’ve always been that child that always saw myself having my own money. Maybe because I came from a humble background where asking for anything was almost taboo,” she explained.

Isime also emphasized that she is a firm believer in treating herself, ensuring that her success is hers alone. “I spend on myself so much that nobody can take the position of ‘if not me, you won’t have this life,'” she said.

Nancy Isime’s career began in 2009 when she won the Miss Valentine International Beauty Pageant. She made her acting debut in 2011 with the TV series Echoes and has since appeared in major Nollywood films like Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards, The Set Up 2, and the critically acclaimed Shanty Town. Along with her acting career, Isime has become a popular TV presenter, hosting Trending on HipTV since 2016. Over the years, she has earned recognition for her contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
