Nedu Demands N500M Compensation From VeryDarkMan Over Defamation
Popular Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has taken legal action against social media critic VeryDarkMan, accusing him of defamation. Nedu, through his legal representatives, has served a pre-action notice demanding a retraction of alleged false statements, a public apology, and N500 million compensation for reputational damage.
The controversy stems from a 12-minute video posted by VeryDarkMan on February 19, 2025, across his YouTube and Instagram pages. In the video, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians”, VeryDarkMan accused Nedu of misappropriating funds meant for a scholarship program. Nedu’s legal team described these claims as “false, defamatory, and damaging,” insisting that their client had no involvement in any wrongdoing.
Additionally, the lawyers clarified that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd, the company mentioned in the allegations. Instead, they stated that he is simply a talent under the brand and has no control over its operations.
As part of their demands, Nedu’s legal representatives instructed VeryDarkMan to take down all videos containing references to their client within 24 hours of receiving the notice. They also requested a public apology acknowledging the alleged falsehoods. Furthermore, they demanded the sum of N500 million as compensation for the damage caused to Nedu’s reputation.
Failure to comply, the legal team warned, would result in full legal action against VeryDarkMan.
Reacting to the notice in a video shared on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan confirmed receiving the legal letter and addressed his followers, stating, “Nedu’s lawyers have served me o, so make una get ready for court case.” His response suggests he may be prepared to challenge the claims in court.
The case has sparked discussions online, with fans and social media users divided over the dispute. While some have expressed support for Nedu, others believe VeryDarkMan may have strong reasons for his allegations.
