Newcastle Striker Isak’s Home Raided, Car and Valuables Stolen
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak was the victim of a home burglary carried out by a “professional group of travelling burglars,” a court heard on Wednesday. The gang stole his car and jewellery worth £68,000 ($87,000) during the raid on his Northumberland residence last April.
Prosecutors told Newcastle Crown Court that Isak was away between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm on April 4 when the criminals broke in through a glass door. They ransacked his home, stealing between £5,000 and £10,000 in cash, along with jewellery and his Audi, which was later found abandoned.
The burglars had previously targeted other victims, including a businesswoman, stealing over £1 million in jewellery and clothing, as well as designer goods worth £100,000 from another woman.
Three members of the same family, based in Italy, have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary, while a fourth, Valentino Nikolov, 32, denies the charge. The gang reportedly entered the UK via a ferry from Calais to Dover last March, using a motor-home as their base.
Despite the incident, Isak has had an impressive season, scoring 22 goals for Newcastle. His team is set to face Liverpool in the League Cup final at Wembley on March 16.
