Neymar Suffers horror ankle injury in Saint-Etienne clash

The Brazilian could be facing a long spell on the sidelines after being forced to withdraw late on in the Ligue 1 fixture against St. Etienne. The forward writhed around in agony after his ankle appeared to give way following a tackle from a Saint-Etienne player late in the second half.

PSG teammates and fans were outrightly concerned as the PSG medical staff ran on to help the forward leave the pitch, raising fears over his fitness for the remainder of the season.

Neymar took to social media after the game to reassure his followers, and has vowed to “come back better and stronger”.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino told reporters at his post-match press conference when asked about the severity of Neymar’s injury: “For the moment there is nothing to say.

“He felt pain from the twist of his ankle. Tomorrow, he will take exams and we will know a little more about his injury.”
