Nigeria Immigration Service Cancels Posting of Officers to Foreign Embassies

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has rescinded the posting of its personnel to Nigerian embassies abroad as immigration attaches, according to a recent announcement made by Assistant Comptroller General GC Didel, in charge of Human Resources Management.

The decision overturns the earlier posting of immigration officers to various Nigerian embassies in Europe, the United States, Asia, and Africa on January 8, 2024.

In a letter issued on Tuesday, the NIS instructed all immigration attaches to abort their plans to assume duties at their respective foreign postings and instead return to their original assignments without delay.

The directive outlined the necessity for officers to retrieve their original posting orders to facilitate procedural and administrative requirements. The letters containing the original posting orders were instructed to be returned to the SA-CGIS (Foreign Desk) no later than Thursday, March 9, 2024.

The statement emphasized strict compliance with the directive.

The reversal of the posting decision marks a significant change in the deployment plans of NIS personnel, highlighting the importance of procedural adherence and administrative considerations within the organization.
