Nigeria Police Force Asserts Security Situation Improving, Not Deteriorating

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relation Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, has conveyed that the security situation in the nation is witnessing improvement, contrary to claims of deterioration. Speaking during the award presentation ceremony for the 14th Biennial Nigeria Police Games (BIPOGA 2024) in Ibadan, Adejobi shared his perspective on the current security landscape.

Dismissing assertions of worsening security conditions, Adejobi emphasized, “The security situation is getting better; I don’t agree that it is getting worse. It is improving.” He attributed the perceived negativity to the circulation of outdated stories on social media, noting that such narratives were often recycled to create false impressions of present events.

Highlighting the importance of factual analysis over speculation, Adejobi urged individuals to assess the security situation based on empirical evidence rather than sensationalized reports. He clarified that while the police acknowledge isolated incidents of insecurity, efforts have been made to combat them, including the apprehension of individuals involved in orchestrating fake kidnappings for ransom.

Addressing concerns over the authenticity of reported kidnapping cases, Adejobi emphasized the need to differentiate between genuine incidents and staged scenarios. He assured the public of the police force’s commitment to addressing security challenges and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to safeguard the country.

Adejobi’s remarks underscore the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Force to maintain security and combat criminal activities, reflecting a proactive approach towards enhancing national safety and stability.
