Nigerian Idol Season 5 Winner K-Peace Alleges Unpaid Prizes Left Him Struggling

Kunle Ogunrombi, better known by his stage name K-Peace, has come forward with serious allegations against the organizers of Nigerian Idol. The Season 5 winner of the 2015 edition claims that he was left without the prizes he was promised upon winning the competition.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, K-Peace revealed that despite his victory and the promises made, he did not receive the N7.5 million cash prize or the car that were part of his winnings. Instead, he found himself in a difficult financial situation, struggling to make ends meet.

A snippet from his full interview, which was released on Sunday, highlighted his grievances and painted a stark picture of his post-show reality. According to PUNCH Online, the complete interview is scheduled for release on YouTube at 6pm on Monday.

In his own words, K-Peace stated, “I came out of the Nigerian Idol platform with zero naira in my account,” a declaration that underscores the financial hardship he claims to have experienced after the show.

He further alleged that the organizers continuously postponed the disbursement of his prize money, leaving him and possibly other winners in a state of uncertainty. This repeated delay, he explained, resulted in severe financial difficulties, forcing him to endure hardship even as a winner.

K-Peace also pointed out that his winnings were not limited to cash and a car. He mentioned that a two-week trip to Dubai was part of the package that was never delivered, adding to his mounting frustrations and disappointment.

He emphasized the gravity of the situation by stating, “What you announced on national television is that I won N7.5 million with a car. And I am supposed to have a two-week trip to Dubai. I was going through hell. Plenty talks dey,” indicating that the unfulfilled promises left him in distress and sparked widespread discussion.

While K-Peace did not confirm whether any prize money was eventually received, his account of the ordeal raises serious concerns about the management and integrity of the competition’s prize system. Known as the Season 5 winner, he has previously shared insights into his life, including his passion for boxing and admiration for Wayne Rooney in interviews with PUNCH Sports Extra.
