The traditional ruler of Lagos, Oba Ridwan Akiolu, yesterday, solicited the support of the British government towards combating insecurity in Nigeria.

Akiolu said this when he hosted the new British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ben Llewelln-Jones, who was on a curtesy visit to his palace.

Describing Nigeria and Britain as partners in progress, Akiolu said, “The current security challenge is temporary and would be surmounted.

“The government and people of Lagos are ready to cooperate with other Nigerians to support the Federal Government for peaceful coexistence”.

Earlier, Llewellyn-Jones promised to support business development in Lagos and Nigeria.

The Deputy High Commissioner said, “I will focus on achieving a more investment friendly climate through peace, job creation and economic development in Nigeria, being the United Kingdom’s second largest market”.
