Obidient Movement Responds to APC’s Warning Against Peter Obi

The Obidient Movement has raised concerns over what it calls a reckless attack on Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election. The movement expressed alarm about comments made by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during an interview on Arise TV on January 5, 2025.

Morka reportedly said, “Obi has crossed the line so many times, and he has what’s coming to him. Whatever he gets, he should manage it.”

In a statement signed by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement described this remark as a direct threat to Obi’s life and a danger to the peace of Nigeria. The group stated that such comments signal a troubling slide into authoritarianism under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The statement called Morka’s words reckless and an unacceptable endorsement of violence. The movement demanded clarification on what line Peter Obi allegedly crossed, who set the boundary, and under what authority it was drawn.

“What exactly is coming to Peter Obi?” the group asked, emphasizing that such threats are unacceptable in a democratic society. They accused the Tinubu administration of using repression, intimidation, and threats instead of dialogue and engagement.

The Obidient Movement warned that if any harm comes to Peter Obi, his family, or associates, the Nigerian government and its agents will be held responsible. The group also urged Nigerians and the international community to note the ruling party’s alleged pattern of intimidation and hold those in power accountable.

The statement called on security agencies to investigate Morka’s remarks seriously and ensure they are not ignored, as has happened in similar cases before.

Earlier, Peter Obi had claimed that his life was under threat due to his criticism of President Tinubu’s administration.
