Olajumoke Onibread Opens Up on How Domestic Abuse Ruined Her Career

Olajumoke Orisaguna, famously known as “Olajumoke Onibread,” has shared the painful story of how domestic abuse from her ex-husband, Sunday Orisaguna, shattered her once-promising modeling career. Olajumoke became a household name in 2016 when she accidentally walked into a photoshoot featuring British rapper Tinie Tempah, photographed by renowned Nigerian photographer TY Bello. This chance encounter turned her life around, propelling her from a humble bread hawker to a celebrated model.

Despite her rapid rise to fame, Olajumoke’s sudden disappearance from the spotlight left many fans wondering what had happened. Speaking on City FM, she revealed the struggles she faced in her marriage, which ultimately derailed her career. According to her, the issues began in Ire, Osun State, where she lived in a “hostile” environment with her husband and his family. She described being mistreated by her mother-in-law and enduring constant physical abuse from Sunday.

After relocating to Lagos in search of a better life, Olajumoke started selling bread to provide for her family. It was during this period that she stumbled into the photoshoot that changed her life forever. However, when Sunday joined her in Lagos, the abuse continued, even as her career began to flourish. She shared how societal pressures and the stigma surrounding separation, especially as a mother of two, kept her silent about her suffering.

She recounted how he tarnished her reputation and spread false stories about her and her supporters after their separation. She also revealed that his controlling behavior, including monitoring her movements and accusing her of infidelity, made her professional life unbearable. Despite being the sole provider for her family, Olajumoke endured both physical and emotional abuse, which ultimately pushed her to leave the marriage.

Her emotional account sheds light on the deep scars left by her experience. She explained how her efforts to shield her children from hardship often meant staying silent and enduring the abuse. However, once she separated from Sunday, the backlash from his actions led to her career decline. Olajumoke’s story is a heartbreaking reminder of how domestic violence can destroy not only personal lives but also the professional aspirations of its victims.
