Oluwadolarz Reflects on Childhood Hardships and Career Challenges

Nigerian singer and content creator Oluwadolarz recently shared the hardships he faced growing up and his difficult journey in the entertainment industry. In an interview on the WithChude podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwu, Oluwadolarz revealed that he took on responsibilities for his family at just 11 years old after losing his father when he was two. His stepfather supported him until he passed away in 2015, but even as a child, Oluwadolarz found himself stepping into an adult role, providing for his family far earlier than most.

Oluwadolarz opened up about how he began working to support his family, taking on jobs meant for adults. He shared that one of his jobs included working as a truck loader at Dangote Cement in Ebute Metta, where he loaded pasta and other heavy materials. Reflecting on these early years, he emphasized that he missed out on a typical childhood due to the demands of providing for his family.

The singer recounted his journey in the music industry, which started in 2008. Despite his passion and efforts, his music initially struggled to gain popularity. Adding to his challenges, a rape allegation emerged, leading to the loss of multiple job opportunities and damaging his brand. According to Oluwadolarz, this period was particularly difficult, as he had just become a father. Many clients distanced themselves from him, and he faced demands to repay debts, compounding his struggles and pushing him into a state of depression.

Oluwadolarz’s story underscores the resilience needed to navigate both personal loss and the challenges of a public career. His journey highlights the determination that helped him to rise above the difficulties and continue pursuing his dreams despite the setbacks.
