Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Shares Gratitude After Life-Saving Surgery
Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, also known as Omosexy, has shared a heartfelt thanksgiving message following a life-threatening health scare that required emergency surgery. In an emotional Instagram post, the veteran actress expressed her gratitude to God for her recovery after enduring intense pain and a life-or-death medical situation.
Omotola described her ordeal, which began while she was working on her films and attending the Academy Voting Members’ screening of Gladiator II. During the event, she struggled to sit upright due to severe back and chest pain, persistent vomiting, and painful stomach discomfort. Despite her health issues, she pushed through, trying to stay engaged in the event.
However, her condition worsened, and she was rushed to the emergency room twice within the same week. Doctors initially diagnosed her with high blood pressure and severe acid reflux, but despite receiving treatment, the pain persisted. Omotola recalled feeling like she was nearing death when, after the screening, she was forced to go home. She vomited all night, and by morning, the pain intensified.
The actress was then rushed to the hospital for a third time. A CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI revealed the cause of her pain: a severely dilated gallbladder. The doctors were shocked by how she had managed to endure such intense discomfort. The diagnosis led to immediate surgery to remove her gallbladder, and she described the experience as a “fight for her life.”
Omotola expressed deep gratitude for her recovery, using the opportunity to reflect on the fragility of life and the importance of health. She urged her followers to take time to thank God for the gift of life, good health, and mental clarity. In her video, she shared her emotions about the life-changing experience, reminding everyone how easily life can change and the importance of being thankful daily.
“Today, I am returning to give all the glory to God,” Omotola said in her video. “Take some time, whether you’re in the US or not, and join in to give thanks—not just for the gift of life, but for the gift of health and a clear mind to envision a better day ahead.”
