Online Application Portal Opens For 2021 Police Recruitment

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday opened the online application portal for its 2021 recruitment exercise.

This was announced in a statement signed by the Police Headquarters Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba.

In the statement titled, ‘2021 recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force’, the force announced that successful applicants would be enlisted as Police Constables (recruits).

The online application portal would be open for a period of six weeks starting from Monday, November 29, 2021 to Monday, January 10, 2021.

Upon completion of the application, successful applicants would be invited for physical screening from January 10-24, 2021.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund has proposed to spend N1.85bn on training of policemen on protest response strategy, human rights and crime scene protection.

This is part of the N10billion proposed as overhead costs for the Nigeria Police Force as contained in the 2022 budget of the NPTF presented to the National Assembly for approval.

From the N10billion, the Fund budgeted N5,871,595,000 for police uniforms and other clothing; N1,535,098,724 for local training; and another N1,850,000,000 for “effective protest response strategy, basic crime scene management and citizen fundamental human rights.”

The NPTF will spend N1,039,170,593 on fuelling of 350 police vehicles at 30 litres or N153,000 per day.

For capital expenditure of the NPF, the Fund is to acquire ‘riot control equipment’ or teargas with N5.5bn, arms and ammunition for N4bn, personnel protective gears (bulletproof vests and helmets) for N2,511,141,100, and Trackfire WTS Weapon Tracking System for N2,274,928,846.

The NPF is also get specialised operational vehicles worth N5,852,211,368, patrol vehicles worth N5,170,800,000, ‘other operational vehicles’ worth N3,984,000,000, and utility vehicles/staff welfare buses worth N1,400,000,000.

An IGP Conference Centre will also be constructed by the NPTF at the cost of N1bn, with the construction of a modern armoury gulping another N1bn.

The NPTF is to spend N1,022,564,000 on ‘procurement and upgrade of police band instrument and accessories.’

The Fund proposes to generate revenue totalling N65,905,252,467 and spend same amount in 2022.

Under the N480m allocated to Miscellaneous, refreshment and meals will gulp N22.7m; honorarium and sitting allowance, N54m; and welfare packages to take N90.5m.
