Opeyemi Famakin Backs Chef T, Clashes With Wumi Toriola Over Collaboration Dispute
Nigerian food critic Opeyemi Famakin has defended celebrity food blogger Tolani Osikoya, known as Chef T, following actress Wumi Toriola’s public criticism over a declined collaboration request.
The controversy began on March 13, 2025, when Toriola called out Chef T for allegedly ignoring her request for a partnership. This came amid speculation that actress Funke Akindele had unfollowed several social media influencers, including Chef T.
Famakin, taking to Instagram, firmly supported Chef T and criticized Toriola’s public outburst. He stated that Chef T has consistently collaborated with influencers but is not obligated to accept every request.
“We don’t do Chef T slander here. She’s a sweetheart who contributes positively to the food industry in Nigeria and Africa. I won’t stand by while someone drags her for a declined collaboration,” he wrote.
Toriola, unimpressed, fired back at Famakin in the comments, dismissing his remarks as attention-seeking. She also questioned his credibility as a food critic, accusing him of harming entrepreneurs under the guise of criticism.
Their exchange quickly gained traction on social media, sparking divided opinions. Some sided with Famakin, agreeing that Chef T had the right to choose her collaborations, while others felt Toriola was justified in expressing her frustration.
