Paul Scholes Takes Dig at Henderson After AC Milan Late Equalizer
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says Dean Henderson was to blame for AC Milan‘s late equaliser in the Europa League clash on Thursday. United appeared to be set to take a 1-0 lead to the San Siro next week after substitute Amad scored his first goal for the club. However, a header from Simon Kjaer in the second minute of stoppage time secured a deserved point for the visitors.
Kjaer’s powerful header was straight at Henderson but the United academy graduate could only push it high into the net.
Scholes claims Henderson wanted to make the save look harder than it was, and in the end made a costly error.
“He should save it,” Scholes said on BT Sport.
“I think he’s trying to make it a little bit more difficult than it should be.
First and foremost keep the ball out of the net. He should save that, there’s no doubt about it, he’ll know that.”
Scholes felt Milan deserved to win the game, let alone get a late equaliser.
He added: “But AC Milan, I was so impressed with them. I was possibly a little bit disrespectful before the game about them, not expecting too much from them.
“But I thought they were by far and away the best side, created chances, the way they took the ball”
