Pay the Nigerian Falcons – Nigerians and Super Eagles players berate NFF

Some Nigerian football stars have put more pressure on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay the country’s women football team players their owed bonuses and allowances for the service they rendered to the country.

SaharaReporters reported on Tuesday that the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPRO) declared its readiness to assist the Super Falcons to recover their unpaid entitlements since 2019.

This was made known in a statement released by the organisation barely 24 hours after the team crashed out of the ongoing world cup tournament.

According to the organisation, the payment of the entitlements by the NFF to female footballers is long overdue.

The group also praised Super Falcons players for putting the issues surrounding the payment of their owed bonuses behind them and displaying a top-notch performance at the global tournament.

Reacting to this on an Instagram post shared by one of the affected players Asisat Oshoala, Nigerian footballer and Italy-based striker, Victor Osimhen demanded the immediate payment of Falcons’ bonuses from NFF. He wrote: “Pay them @thenffofficial ????????”

Similarly, a former Super Eagles player, Odion Ighalo joined the trend. He blamed NFF for not changing the bad narrative that had impacted most of the players negatively.

“NFF never still stop these things,” he wrote.

Another former player, Victor Anichebe said the NFF should pay the Falcons what they are entitled to for their performance in the ongoing World Cup.

He said, “@thenffofficial pay them! They did us all proud! And even if they didn’t PAY THEM WHAT THEYRE OWED!!!”
