PDP Threatens to Expel Wike Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities. The party stated that if the ongoing political crisis in the state persists, it may be forced to suspend or expel the former governor.

During a press conference in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, PDP’s acting state chairman, Robinson Ewor, criticized Wike’s role in the crisis, accusing him of undermining the party. He argued that Wike’s position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration suggests that his loyalty lies with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), not the PDP.

Ewor also dismissed the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding Martins Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers, insisting that they had defected from the PDP to the APC. He emphasized that Amaewhule publicly announced his defection on the floor of the House of Assembly and submitted an affidavit confirming the move. The party maintained that these lawmakers are no longer PDP members despite the court’s decision.

Furthermore, the PDP commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his efforts to implement the Supreme Court judgment in a way that benefits Rivers people. The party also called on Wike to step back from the crisis and allow peace to return so that governance in the state can proceed smoothly.
