Peter Obi Praises Dele Farotimi’s Dedication to Nigeria’s Progress

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has commended lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi for his resilience and commitment to Nigeria’s development.

In a tweet on Friday, Obi shared his admiration for Farotimi after visiting him following his recent release from a correctional facility in Ekiti. Despite his challenges, Obi noted that Farotimi remains positive and steadfast in his advocacy for good governance.

“Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I had not met with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and inspired by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria. Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in adversity, taking bold stands for good governance in our nation,” Obi wrote.

Obi also wished Farotimi a successful year ahead as they continue their shared efforts toward national progress.

Farotimi’s arrest on December 3 by the Ekiti State Police Command was linked to allegations of defamation and cyberbullying made by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Aare Afe Babalola. The claims stemmed from statements in Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.

Farotimi’s release marked the end of a challenging period, but his commitment to advocating for justice and governance remains unwavering.
