Police Clarify Rumors of Junior Pope’s Burial by Riverside Following Tragic Incident

The Anambra State Police have addressed speculations surrounding the reported burial of Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, by a riverside. The clarification comes in response to earlier reports of Mr. Odonwodo and four other actors tragically drowning in the Anam River during a movie shoot.

Contrary to rumors, the police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that Mr. Odonwodo’s body has not been buried or exhumed but remains at a mortuary in the state. While families of three other deceased actors agreed to burial beside the river, one family opted to exhume the body for a proper burial elsewhere, while two were laid to rest at the riverside.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with statements obtained from the movie producer, Adanma Luke, and two boat drivers. The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine any criminal liability in the tragedy, affirming the police’s commitment to ensuring justice.
