Portable Arrested in Kwara After New Legal Complaint

Popular Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has once again landed in police custody—this time in Kwara State. The arrest followed a fresh legal petition filed against him by fellow entertainer Okunola Saheed, popularly known as Osupa. The case has quickly stirred public interest as the outspoken singer faces several new allegations.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrest, stating that the police obtained a valid warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin after reviewing the petition and supporting evidence. Portable is facing charges that include criminal defamation, incitement, threat to life, character assassination, use of abusive language, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

According to the police, operatives traveled to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, where they apprehended Portable at 7:25 pm. He was then brought to Ilorin for further investigation. The police added that his statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both sides, and he remains in custody awaiting court charges.

The controversy stems from a complaint by Osupa, who alleged that Portable used one of his signature phrases in a recent video or musical content, which led to accusations of defamation and threats.

Portable has become a controversial figure since his rise to stardom in 2021 with the hit song Zazoo Zeh featuring Olamide and Poco Lee. His rough style, street credibility, and confrontational attitude have made him both loved and criticized equally.

This is not the first time Portable has clashed with law enforcement. In March 2023, he was arrested after resisting officers who came to detain him at his bar in Ogun State. In a viral video, Portable was seen claiming to be untouchable because he was a “federal government liability.”

A month later, he was rearrested over an alleged N14 million debt tied to a G-Wagon purchase. When the dealer tried to reclaim the car, a violent altercation reportedly broke out, which led to police involvement.

While some see Portable’s frequent run-ins with the law as a sign of arrogance, others argue that he is a product of the same harsh environment he raps about. His fans continue to stand by him, saying that his rebellious spirit makes him relatable and real.

As the court proceedings unfold, many are once again watching to see how the controversial singer navigates this latest chapter in his unpredictable journey through fame and infamy.
