Portable Begs Saheed Osupa for Forgiveness After Insulting Him
Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly apologized to Fuji music legend Saheed Osupa after hurling insults at him over a copyright dispute. The dramatic turn of events comes after Portable had initially attacked Osupa for taking down his song from streaming platforms due to copyright infringement.
The dispute began when Portable used a line from Osupa’s song without permission, leading to the song’s removal from major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Enraged by the action, the ‘Zazu Zeh’ crooner lashed out at Osupa in a viral video, calling him “big for nothing” and accusing him of not supporting his career the way Fuji icon Pasuma has.
However, following widespread criticism and backlash, Portable has now made a U-turn, pleading for Osupa’s forgiveness. In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, the controversial artist admitted his mistake and blamed his short temper for his earlier outburst. He expressed regret over his words and appealed to Osupa to consider him as a son instead of an adversary.
“My fans, I’m a hot-tempered person. I have said my mind and it has ended. My fans, please forgive me. King Saheed Osupa, Oba Orin, please don’t be offended,” he said.
He further explained that money was at the root of their misunderstanding, emphasizing how financial disputes often create conflicts between siblings, relationships, and even between a father and son.
“It’s money that causes a fight. It’s money that destroys siblings, and relationships, and causes a fight between father and son. It was music money that caused our fight because it was when I went to collect money for the song that I was told that it had been removed from streaming platforms. Please, my daddy, forgive me and adopt me as your child,” Portable pleaded.
His unexpected apology has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some commending him for taking responsibility for his actions, while others believe he only apologized because of the backlash he faced online.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of copyright disputes in the music industry, especially in cases where younger artists fail to obtain proper permissions before sampling or using another musician’s work.
