A private secondary school, “New Oxford Science Academy Chiranchi” in Kano metropolis, has commenced accepting payment of its fees in cryptocurrency.

The school proprietor, Sabi’u Musa Haruna, said, yesterday that the school decided to accept cryptocurrency to ease the payment of school fees for those who desired to, noting that the decision was taken after due consultation with parents.

According to him, “We have decided to accept cryptocurrency as school fees because the world today is tilting towards the system. We believe, one day digital money will gain more acceptance than paper money”.

Haruna explained that countries like El-Salvador and Tanzania were already accepting cryptocurrency in their schools, urging the Federal Government to quickly embrace the system and regularize it.
