Queen Lateefah Hits N216 Million at the Box Office

Nollywood’s latest film, Queen Lateefah, has reached an impressive milestone by earning N216 million in ticket sales at cinemas across Nigeria. This achievement comes after the film made N41.5 million over the weekend of October 11-13, 2024, according to the latest data from the Nigerian Box Office.

Produced by Wunmi Toriola, Queen Lateefah has been a top performer since its release on September 27, 2024. It has held the number one spot for three weeks in a row, showing its strong appeal to Nigerian viewers. In just 12 days after its debut, the film earned N150 million, confirming its status as a box-office hit.

The film started strong, opening with N58 million in its first weekend. This strong beginning has helped it maintain its success, reflecting the growth of Nigeria’s film industry and a rising interest in local movies.

Plot Overview

Queen Lateefah tells the story of Lateefah Adeleke, a 30-year-old businesswoman seeking to improve her social status. However, her well-crafted image begins to fall apart when she meets Jide Rhodes, a 35-year-old businessman. Their encounters expose the difference between Lateefah’s self-made persona and her real-life situation. Raised in poverty by an illiterate mother and living in a rundown building with odd neighbors, Lateefah presents herself as a successful traveler. This clash between reality and appearance drives the film’s story, creating fascinating tension.
