Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Divine Ikubor, famously known as Rema, has landed in India for a special performance at the upcoming wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s wealthiest individual, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical moguls Viren and Shaila Merchant.
Rema, noted for hits like ‘Calm Down,’ shared a video on Thursday where he was seen boarding a private chartered plane dressed in an elegant all-black attire. He teased fans by playing ‘Azaman’ from his latest album ‘He Is’ in the background, along with an emoji of the Indian flag on his Instagram post.
According to reports by Hindustan Times, Rema is commanding a hefty fee of $3 million for his performance of ‘Calm Down’ at the event. Joining him on stage will be Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who reportedly secured $10 million for his appearance. Additionally, Rihanna also graced the event with her performance, although her fee remains undisclosed.
The wedding festivities, scheduled for July 12 at the prestigious Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Centre (BKC), will culminate in a grand celebration spanning four days. This extravagant affair marks the culmination of a series of lavish gatherings hosted by the Ambani family since March.
The guest list includes a roster of global celebrities and dignitaries, such as Kim Kardashian, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish PM Carl Bildt, and former Canadian PM Stephen Harper, among other prominent figures.
