Rema Walks Off Stage at Dreamville Festival Due to Poor Sound Quality

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Rema, made headlines at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina when he unexpectedly walked off stage midway through his performance on Sunday.

Rema was thrilling the audience with his hit song ‘Calm Down’ during Day 2 of the festival at Dix Park in Raleigh when he abruptly halted his performance to address the poor sound quality.

Expressing his frustration, Rema voiced concerns about the inadequate sound setup and advocated for equal sound standards for African artists performing on international stages compared to their Western counterparts.

In a candid moment, he stated, “Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sht. I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sht up?”

The Dreamville Festival, founded by American hip-hop icon J. Cole, witnessed Rema’s bold stance on ensuring quality production standards for African artists, highlighting the importance of equitable treatment and representation in global music events.
