Sanwo-Olu, Emmanuel celebrate Kumuyi on 80th birthday

Some youths at the Sunday service of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Headquarters, at Gbagada, Lagos State played musical instruments in celebration of the 80th birthday of the General Superintendent of the church, Pastor William Kumuyi.

The youths, who were on the first gallery of the expansive auditorium, had waited for the guests, Governors of Lagos and Akwa Ibom states, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Emmanuel Udom, respectively, to make their presentation, before they cashed in on the intervening period and played for the cleric.

Some of the excited members joined in the birthday song, as the pastor waved in appreciation.

Sanwo-Olu in his speech described Kumuyi as “my leader, my daddy”, and a true man of God, who speaks and ‘nations listen”.

He said, despite the insecurity the nation was confronting, he believed God would intervene and resolve the problem.

Udom. in his remark, said the DCLM had impacted the church’s early days, commending Kumuyi for being consistent in his message of holiness.

“At times, people wonder, how come Nigeria is going through all these and we are still as strong as we are. Once you see things like this happen, know that people are standing in the gap. And certainly one of them is our father in the Lord, making things to stabilize”.

Kumuyi, who preached on the topic, “Our Glowing Privileges from Grace to Glory”, said long life should be measured by the fulfilment of purpose on earth.

“When you finish everything God has appointed for you to do, that is long life. That is why we don’t question, ‘But so and so died at 57′, for her, that was a long life. Or you say “So and so died at 72’, for him, that was long life. For you, it is not the number, it is the appointment of God, what he has ordained that you will do. And once you finish, a reward is waiting for you in heaven, we glorify God on your behalf because that is long life”, he added.
