Sanwo-Olu Praises Lagos as Host City for ‘Move Afrika’ Concert

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has applauded Global Citizen for selecting Lagos as a key destination for the Move Afrika music touring circuit.

Speaking at the concert, which featured Grammy-winning artist John Legend on Victoria Island, Sanwo-Olu described the initiative as more than just entertainment. He called it a movement that unites global citizens to address pressing issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and education access.

The Move Afrika project is a large-scale effort to establish a sustainable music touring circuit across Africa. It aims to attract economic investments, create jobs, and support entrepreneurship in host countries. Organized by Global Citizen, the initiative seeks to empower Africa’s emerging generations through an annual series of live performances.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted Lagos as the perfect host city, emphasizing its status as the heartbeat of Nigeria and one of Africa’s most vibrant hubs. He noted that the Move Afrika concert aligns with his administration’s vision to position Lagos as a center for global culture, economic growth, and social impact.
