SDP Presidential Candidate Criticizes President Tinubu’s Economic Policies

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, recently voiced criticism regarding President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, attributing Nigeria’s current hardships to them. In an interview with DAILY POST, Adebayo asserted that if given the chance, he could have outperformed President Tinubu. He pointed out that the policies causing hardship were promised during Tinubu’s presidential campaign.

Adebayo highlighted fundamental disagreements with Tinubu’s policies, particularly regarding governance costs, subsidy removal, and foreign exchange management. He warned that these strategies, historically ineffective in other countries, were ill-suited for Nigeria’s context. Adebayo predicted the current outcome during debates preceding the elections.

Adebayo questioned the efficacy of Tinubu’s economic team and advocated for revenue generation, government restructuring, employment creation, inflation control, and increased accountability. He emphasized the importance of listening to Nigerians and seeking talent beyond political affiliations in governance.

Despite his critique, Adebayo expressed optimism about Nigeria’s prospects under determined leadership willing to address the country’s challenges with humility, social justice, and inclusivity. He called for a policy shift to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians, stressing the need for effective governance beyond partisan interests.
