Shallipopi Shares Struggles Before Fame

Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has opened up about his challenging journey to stardom, reflecting on the financial difficulties he faced before his rise to fame. The ‘Elon Musk Boys’ crooner recounted his days of performing for as little as N5,000 in clubs just to support his family and help his mother pay bills.

In a heartfelt post shared on his X handle on Saturday, Shallipopi responded to criticism after he remarked on the importance of money in achieving manhood. He explained how his experiences with hardship shaped his perspective. “I have been to the 36 states of Nigeria touring towns to eat,” he wrote. “This country doesn’t laugh with anyone; you have to buckle up. Period!”

The singer revealed the lengths he went to to provide for his family. From working as a bricklayer and painter to doing POP and plastering jobs, Shallipopi left no stone unturned. He shared that during particularly tough times, he would sneak out of the house at night to freestyle at Club Jokers in Benin, earning just enough to bring N5,000 home for his mother.
