Simi Asserts Her Right to Respect Amid Criticism from Samklef and Brymo

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has addressed recent criticisms from Samuel Oguachuba, aka Samklef, and Maverick singer Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, known as Brymo. Speaking on Angela Yee’s program ‘Way Up’ on Tuesday, Simi expressed her bewilderment at their remarks, asserting her happiness at her husband Adekunle Gold’s staunch defense of her.

Simi dismissed the jibes as mere comedy, unable to discern any substantial meaning behind them. She highlighted the supportive response from her husband and fans, emphasizing her right to respect irrespective of her marital status. She made it clear that while she didn’t feel personally affected, she deserved respect on her own merit.

The recent storm on social media erupted when Samklef openly shared his past feelings for Simi, leading to a heated exchange between him and Adekunle Gold. Samklef’s statements, which were subsequently deleted, provoked Adekunle Gold’s swift defense of his wife, emphasizing that Simi owed Samklef nothing and urging him to cease his disrespectful behavior.

Similarly, Brymo found himself embroiled in controversy after sharing an audio clip where he requested a sexual favor from Simi for a music collaboration, a request that Simi vehemently rejected. Brymo defended his actions as “artistic pursuit,” prompting Adekunle Gold to warn him to stay away from his wife and cease disrespecting his family.

Simi’s response to the criticism demonstrates her firm stance on deserving respect and her gratitude for her husband’s unwavering support. Despite the challenges presented by public scrutiny, she remains resolute in her pursuit of artistic expression and personal integrity.
