Skales Reflects on Wizkid Dislike: ‘I’ve Tried to Make Peace’
Nigerian singer and rapper Skales has opened up about his strained relationship with his former record label mate, Wizkid, and his ongoing confusion over the superstar’s dislike for him. In a recent podcast episode of ‘Listen,’ the 33-year-old rapper revealed that despite his efforts, his attempt to settle their differences has been unsuccessful.
“I have always felt that Wizkid didn’t like me. I don’t know why but there were occasions where he showed his dislike for me,” Skales shared during the interview. He further explained that while he has tried to reach out and make peace with the Afrobeats legend, Wizkid has remained adamant in his stance, leaving Skales puzzled about the reasons behind the animosity.
Skales reflected on the challenges of speaking out, mentioning how public perceptions could easily turn his words into accusations of jealousy or envy towards Wizkid’s success. “When I know that people will believe anything you say, I don’t need to fight you. Because whatever I say, they are going to say I am jealous,” he noted.
The rapper, born in Kaduna State, seemed resigned to the fact that despite his efforts, the tension with Wizkid remains unresolved. “I sat down recently and said, ‘This guy don’t like me.’ I have tried to make peace with him but he was adamant. He didn’t like me, I can tell you for a fact,” Skales concluded, still uncertain of the cause of the rift.
