Sunday Igboho Advocates for Separation if Nigeria Fails to Function
Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has expressed that many Nigerians no longer take pride in identifying as citizens of the country. In a video shared online on Thursday, Igboho, seen at an airport in the United Kingdom, cited corruption, insecurity, and a deteriorating economy as the reasons for the growing lack of patriotism in Nigeria.
Igboho, who has been vocal about his separatist stance, stated that if Nigeria cannot function as a unified nation, ethnic groups should be allowed to go their separate ways. He emphasized that the Yoruba people, particularly the youth, are eager to build a prosperous society, drawing inspiration from their experiences abroad.
He said, “Even inside the airport, there is no security. They can steal your belongings inside your bag. All these are the things dissuading people from being proud of the country, Nigeria.” He further stated that these issues make it difficult for Nigerians to identify with their country, prompting his call for separation.
Igboho went on to explain that Yoruba youths, who have traveled worldwide and gained valuable knowledge, are eager to return and transform the Yoruba nation into a modern, prosperous society, much like those in Europe.
