Super Eagles Advance to AFCON 2023 Semi-Finals: Prize Money Soars to N3 Billion

The Super Eagles’ remarkable journey in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 has not only brought glory but also a substantial financial reward. With their qualification for the semi-finals, Nigeria has secured a prize money of $2.5 million, equivalent to N3 billion.

Having secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Angola in the quarter-finals, the Super Eagles are now set to face South Africa in a high-stakes clash, vying for a coveted spot in Sunday’s final.

Under the leadership of coach Jose Peseiro, Nigeria, alongside South Africa, DR Congo, and host nation Ivory Coast, have already guaranteed themselves a share of the $2.5 million prize money.

The announcement of increased prize monies by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, prior to the tournament, has further amplified the financial rewards for participating teams.

Should Nigeria progress to the final and emerge victorious, they stand to secure a minimum of $4 million (N5 billion) in prize money. The ultimate triumph in the tournament would elevate their earnings to a staggering $7 million (N8.8 billion).
