Suspected herdsmen burn Kogi school, Timber contractor killed

The Government Secondary School, Illuke, in the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State has been razed by yet-to-be identified arsonists.

It was reliably gathered that the school was invaded around 3pm on Wednesday.

Students resumed on Thursday to discover that blocks of classrooms on the school premises had been set ablaze.

One of the suspects, identified to be a Fulani herder, was arrested and handed over to the Kabba/Bunu Divisional Police Officer.

The Commissioner of police, Ayuba Edeh who, confirming the incident, however, said, “No suspect has been handed over to the police”.

In another development, a Timber contractor based in Ayangba, Kogi State, Mr. Ogwu Salihu has been killed by gunmen.

The incident happened on Wednesday at the Late Salihu lover’s house where he went to pass the night.

The lady, whose name was given as Safiya, had four children for her former husband before they separated.

Relationship between Safiya and the late Timber contractor had been a subject of controversy.

The Chairman of Dekina Local Government Council, Prince Isiak Shaibu who attended the funeral condemned the act and vowed to bring those behind the dastardly act to book.
