Taaooma launches foundation to assist the poor
Popular skit maker and Commediane, Mariam Apaokagi, has unveiled plans to launch a humanitarian foundation, the Mariam Apaokagi Initiative, to assist the poor in society.
Apaokagi, who goes by the stage name Taaooma, made this known in Ilorin, Kwara State when she paid a courtesy visit to the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Saliu Mustapha at his residence.
Reeling out various programmes to be embarked on by the foundation, she explained that the initiative was her own way of giving back to society, noting that she intends to start with Ilorin, her place of birth.
She, therefore, solicited for the senator’s assistance and collaboration for the success of the foundation.
Reacting, Senator Mustapha commended Taaooma for the initiative and assured her that his door would always be open to her for collaboration.
Mustapha, who is the Turaki of Ilorin, charged the skitmaker on value-driven content that can help stem the tide of drug abuse and other forms of criminalities in society.
Mustapha, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture, also highlighted the importance of vocational education for youth, emphasizing its multiplier role in job creation.
