Tech firms to empower underbanked individuals
FINTECH company, Aella App, is working with Amazon Web Services, Inc. to empower underbanked individuals to have quicker access to credit and other financial services, using ‘Amazon Rekognition’ for identity verification.
According to a statement issued by the company Aella App on Wednesday, the Amazon Rekognition is a computer vision service enabling developers to analyse images and videos for face identification and verification, media intelligence, custom industrial automation and workplace safety.
Speaking on the drive for the collaboration, Aella App’s Chief Executive Officer, Akin Jones, stated that with only 38% of Nigerians having any form of identification, that a vast majority of the population were being left behind on financial services.
He said the firm aimed at taking advantage of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies to bring more people into the ecosystem, reinforcing their commitment to provide products that democratized financial services for all.
Chief Technical Officer, Aella App, Wale Akanbi further stated that Amazon Rekognition facilitated faster customer access to products, as the company could now verify an individual’s identity without human intervention.
