Timini Egbuson Criticizes Musicians for Not Supporting Nollywood
Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has expressed frustration over the lack of support Nigerian musicians show for the film industry, despite actors consistently promoting their music.
In a recent social media post, the award-winning actor highlighted what he sees as an imbalance between the two industries. “I really wish musicians supported Nollywood the way we support their music, but that’s a conversation for another day,” he wrote on X.
The Nigerian entertainment industry has long witnessed crossovers, with musicians appearing in movies and actors featuring in music videos. However, Egbuson’s remarks suggest that Nollywood may not be receiving the same level of backing from musicians as actors give to the music industry.
This statement has sparked conversations about the need for stronger collaborations between the two sectors, especially as Nollywood continues to expand its global reach.
Beyond entertainment, Egbuson also voiced concerns about modern relationships. In a recent TVC interview, he lamented the rise of short-lived romances, blaming social media for creating unrealistic expectations.
“Sometimes, it does get lonely. You realise the power of your energy and can’t just let anybody in,” he shared.
The actor criticized how people allow online relationship advice to influence their personal lives. He pointed out how some individuals hastily end relationships based on social media posts.
“We live in a woke generation where there’s so much misinformation about relationships. Maybe your partner is treating you well, but you see a TikTok video titled ‘Seven Signs He Is Not Your Man,’ and because it slightly aligns with your reality, you leave,” he explained.
Egbuson encouraged people to focus on real, meaningful relationships rather than chasing social media-driven ideals. His remarks have since generated mixed reactions, with many agreeing that the entertainment industry and personal relationships are both influenced by unrealistic online standards.
