Tinubu’s Reforms Necessary and Promising, Says Orji Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia-North has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms will bring good results, even though Nigerians are facing tough times now. During a New Year visit to Chief Daniel Eke, a former Abia State governorship aspirant, Kalu explained that the reforms are necessary to update Nigeria’s outdated laws and improve the economy.

Kalu praised President Tinubu for his courage in introducing the tax reform bill but said more public education and consultation are needed. He noted, “Tinubu is a bold leader who made tough decisions. The tax reform bill is good, but Nigerians were not properly informed about its benefits. We need to involve all regions and help people understand it better.”

He compared Nigeria’s economy to China’s, saying competition among states is key to growth. According to him, every state in Nigeria has resources that can be developed to boost productivity and reduce dependence on federal funds.

“Nigeria must learn from China, where states compete to grow the economy,” Kalu said. “China has grown for 35 years at a fast rate because of competition. Nigeria’s states should also compete to develop and grow.”

Kalu admitted that Nigerians are suffering due to the reforms but assured them the pain is temporary. He said 2025 will bring positive changes as the reforms begin to show results.

“President Tinubu knows how hard things are for Nigerians,” Kalu said. “I ask everyone to be patient. These reforms are important, and there is hope for better days ahead.”

Chief Daniel Eke praised Kalu for creating jobs and improving infrastructure in the senatorial district. He said Kalu focuses on lasting solutions like industries and good roads instead of short-term empowerment programs.

Kalu promised to continue serving his people, saying, “I left my businesses to focus on my job as a Senator. My goal is to deliver real development to Abia-North.”
