Toke Makinwa Praises D’banj for Generous Act of Kindness

Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has recently shared a heartfelt story about her experience with singer D’banj, highlighting his exceptional generosity. Makinwa revealed that D’banj is the only Nigerian man who has given her money without expecting anything in return.

In a viral video, Makinwa recounted a touching moment from before she gained fame. She remembered meeting D’banj at a party, where he confidently declared that he was going to be “the biggest thing out of Africa.” His boldness left a strong impression on her.

Makinwa went on to describe how D’banj pledged a significant amount of ₦10 million to her during her book launch. Despite her initial disbelief, D’banj honored his pledge the very next morning without asking for anything in return. “He paid it the next morning and never asked for anything in return,” she said.

Makinwa emphasized that this act of generosity was unique among her experiences, as many people in her life would expect something in return for their money. She fondly remembered, “He is the only Nigerian man I know who has given me free money and didn’t ask, ‘What are you doing later?’ Or ‘Can I call you later?’ He is the only Nigerian man! He gave me 10 fucking million naira and this was many years ago. I fuck with him!”

Laughing, Makinwa noted that D’banj’s generous donation was so long ago that he himself might not even recall the gesture. Nonetheless, she holds the memory close, expressing deep appreciation for his kindness.
