Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival Launches Brampton Edition

The renowned Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) is broadening its horizons with the introduction of the Brampton International Film Festival (BINFF) in Ontario, Canada. Scheduled to debut from October 3rd to 5th, 2024, this inaugural event marks a significant expansion for the esteemed film festival.

The genesis of BINFF traces back to 2021 when Brampton expressed keen interest in collaborating with TINFF. What began as a simple phone call blossomed into a formal proposal presented by TINFF delegates to Brampton’s Mayor, Mr. Patrick Brown, and the city council members in 2023. Following thorough deliberations, Brampton’s Economic Development team gave their stamp of approval, paving the way for the realization of BINFF.

Under the visionary leadership of Brampton’s Tourism Manager and with the full endorsement of Mayor Brown, BINFF’s maiden edition promises to be a momentous occasion in the city’s cultural landscape.

TINFF recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Nigerian and African festival to receive accreditation from Telefilm Canada and the Canadian Screen Awards (CSA) Qualifying Film Festival. The CSA accreditation, akin to the Oscars in Canada, underscores TINFF’s growing influence and prestige on the international stage.

As a pivotal addition to Brampton’s vibrant cultural tapestry, BINFF is poised to attract actors and industry stakeholders from Canada, the United States, and Nigeria’s Nollywood film industry. The festival will serve as a platform for networking, showcasing, and celebrating diversity and inclusivity, aligning seamlessly with Brampton’s ethos as a melting pot of cultures and economic dynamism.

With Brampton emerging as a beacon of growth and opportunity, BINFF is primed to contribute to the city’s cultural renaissance while fostering global connections within the film fraternity.
