Umar Sadiq Claps Back at Online Bullies, Asserts Hausa Heritage: “I’ll Insult Your Parents”
Nigerian Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq has issued a stern warning to cyberbullies, asserting his readiness to retaliate against those attacking him and teammate Alex Iwobi online.
Despite not being directly involved in Nigeria’s AFCON 2023 journey, Sadiq found himself targeted by online trolls following the team’s defeat in the final against Cote d’Ivoire.
In a bold response on his Instagram account, Sadiq defended himself, emphasizing his distinct identity from Iwobi and declaring, “I no even play you con dey insult me. Abeg oo Me I no be iwobi I go Insult person papa with him mama join. Yes I be dat topical Hausa boy Abi u see fear for my eyes?”
His statement, delivered in his native Hausa dialect, reflects his determination not to tolerate unwarranted criticism quietly.
Sadiq further condemned the actions of online bullies, denouncing their attempts to push individuals into depression and mental breakdowns. He admonished, “Pushing someone into depression & mental breakdown, yet you want life to be better for you, e no fit ever better for una! Vagabonds!!!”
The fiery remarks from Sadiq illustrate his refusal to passively endure online abuse. Unlike Iwobi’s more restrained approach, Sadiq vows to retaliate fiercely against those hiding behind keyboards to attack him and his teammates.
While his words may have been fueled by frustration, they provide insight into Sadiq’s resilient personality and his readiness to confront adversity head-on.
Umar Sadiq’s assertive stance serves as a reminder that athletes are not immune to the effects of cyberbullying and highlights the importance of standing up against online harassment in the sports community.
