Unknown Gunmen Abduct School Pupils in Ekiti

In a distressing development, unknown gunmen abducted an unspecified number of schoolchildren in Emure Local Government of Ekiti State. The incident occurred yesterday evening while the students were being conveyed in their school bus near the Eporo-Ekiti boundary.

Details remain scarce, and the abducted children are students of a yet-to-be-disclosed school. As of now, the exact number of students taken by the gunmen is unknown, and the police have yet to confirm the incident.

This abduction follows closely on the heels of the tragic killing of two traditional rulers in the state. The Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, were ambushed and killed by armed men while returning from a meeting. Fortunately, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, escaped the attack.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has condemned these acts and ordered security operatives in the state to apprehend the perpetrators. He assured the people of Ekiti State that the government is committed to uncovering the truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
