Victony Opens Up About Health Struggles and Surgeries

Nigerian singer Anthony Ebuka Victor, popularly known as Victony, has shared details about his ongoing health struggles and multiple surgeries. In a recent interview on the Adesope Live segment at the Afroland Festival, Victony revealed that he has undergone four surgeries and has another one scheduled soon.

Victony’s health issues stem from a severe car accident in 2021, which left him in a coma for four days. Since then, he has been in a long recovery phase, frequently visiting hospitals and undergoing surgeries. Despite these challenges, Victony remains active in his music career and is preparing for a North America tour.

During the interview, Victony discussed the difficulties he faces while performing. He mentioned that he often takes pain relievers before going on stage to manage the discomfort from his surgeries. “Honestly, I am blessed and the world can see. I’m still in the recovery phase but I’m still able to do this now. And I’m about to go on tour,” he said.

Reflecting on his journey, Victony expressed gratitude for being able to continue his music career despite his health issues. “Thinking about last year, even up until recently, I have done 4 surgeries and I am still going to do one more after the tour. But it’s still a blessing. Going in and out of the hospital,” he added.

Victony’s resilience and determination are evident as he continues to perform and record music while managing his health. “I take pain relievers before I go on stage and I still record. I thank God for his grace, it is not by power. I’m not his favourite child so I don’t know why he is blessing me,” he shared.

In February 2023, Victony announced a two-month break from music to recover from his third surgery. Now, as he prepares for his upcoming tour, fans continue to support him and admire his strength in facing these challenges.
