Video: Court Rejects Hearing of Lawyer in Traditional Attire

A Nigerian lawyer caused a stir at the country’s Supreme Court on Thursday when he appeared in the full traditional attire of a traditional priest to attend court proceedings.

Lawyer Malcolm Omirhobo was protesting the ruling of the Nigerian Supreme Court allowing the use of hijabs, which are headscarves won by Muslims, in public schools in the city of Lagos.

Other lawyers have slammed Malcolm Omirhobo who appeared at the Federal High Court on Monday dressed as a traditional doctor.

The court however refused to listen to two instances of the human rights lawyer, who appeared naked footed with cowries tied on his two legs.

A lawyer while reacting said, “I am a lawyer, my Lord can imagine the way my learned friend appears before the court as a professional. The rules that govern us as a lawyer do not allow improper dressing.”
