Mexico recorded a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in Sunday’s international friendly played at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, United States of America. Santiago Gimenez’s first-half strike and William Troost-Ekong’s own goal handed El Tri victory, with Cyriel Dessers netting the Super Eagles’ only goal.
Despite playing against a depleted team, following the absence of key players, Jose Peseiro’s men showed some flashes of brilliance. The Super Eagles – who will not be featuring at the 2022 World Cup Qatar – will face Ecuador on another friendly on June 2 in New Jersey before returning home to prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
